Street Light Control Panel

Street Light Control Panels in Hyderabad

A lighting circuit that stays on through the morning quietly wastes power every day nobody notices it, and one that fails to come on at dusk becomes a safety problem the same night. Our street light control panels switch the lighting load automatically on an astronomical timer or photocell input, protect every outgoing feeder against overload and earth fault, and show the maintenance team at a glance which circuit has tripped.

Automatic Lighting Control

On at Dusk. Off at Dawn. Without a Switchman.
  • Automatic ON/OFF through an astronomical timer, digital time switch or photocell input
  • Manual / Auto / Off selector so the crew can override the panel during maintenance
  • Individual MCB or MCCB protection on every outgoing lighting feeder
  • Contactors rated for LED driver inrush and for daily switching duty
  • Single-phasing preventer, overload and earth-fault protection on the incoming side
  • Phase-wise ammeter, voltmeter and healthy-phase indication on the door
  • IP54 to IP65 powder-coated enclosure with rain canopy for pole or plinth mounting

How a Street Light Control Panel Works

The switching decision is made either by an astronomical timer or by a photocell. An astronomical timer holds the latitude and longitude of the site and calculates sunset and sunrise for every day of the year, so the switching time shifts with the seasons without anyone reprogramming it. A photocell instead measures ambient light directly and is useful where cloud cover and shade matter more than the calendar. Either way, the signal energises the contactor coil, the contactor closes, and power reaches the outgoing lighting circuits.

Protection is arranged so that one fault does not darken an entire stretch. Every outgoing way carries its own MCB or MCCB, which means a shorted cable at one pole trips that feeder alone and leaves the rest of the road lit. On the incoming side, overload, short-circuit and earth-fault protection guard the whole panel, while a single-phasing preventer drops the contactor if a line is lost, so an unbalanced supply never reaches the LED drivers. Where part-night operation is required, a second contactor group switches alternate poles off after midnight and restores them before dawn.

Because the panel lives outdoors, the build matters as much as the scheme. Gasketed doors, a sloped rain canopy, bottom cable entry through proper glands, powder-coated or galvanised sheet steel and adequate internal ventilation are what keep it working through monsoon and summer alike. Every unit is wired, tested and documented at our works before dispatch.

Applications of Street Light Control Panels

Anywhere lighting has to run to a schedule rather than to somebody’s memory, a control panel earns its place.

  • Municipal roads, streets and colony lighting
  • National and state highway lighting
  • Industrial estates, factory roads and yard lighting
  • Commercial complexes, malls and parking areas
  • Residential layouts, gated communities and apartment campuses
  • Parks, playgrounds, public plazas and monument lighting

Why Choose Street Light Control Panels
Benefits of a Street Light Control Panel
01Lighting that follows the actual sunset

Astronomical timing tracks the changing sunset through the year, so the lights come on when it is genuinely dark instead of at a fixed hour somebody has to reset every few weeks.

02No wasted daytime burning hours

Even an hour of unnecessary burning across a few hundred fittings adds up over a billing cycle. Automatic switching removes that loss entirely.

03Faults isolated to a single stretch

Feeder-wise protection keeps a cable fault at one pole from tripping the whole installation, so the road stays lit while the fault is traced.

04Safer for the maintenance crew

A lockable incomer, a clear Manual / Auto / Off selector and properly labelled feeders let a technician isolate exactly the circuit being worked on.

05Ready for remote monitoring

Energy metering and GSM communication can be built in, so burning hours, consumption and trip status are visible without a site visit.

06Built for the weather it lives in

IP-rated enclosures, gasketed doors and a rain canopy mean the panel survives the monsoon and the summer without the corrosion that shortens the life of an ordinary box.

Common Questions About Street Light Control Panels

What is a street light control panel?
It is an outdoor electrical panel that switches a street lighting network on and off automatically and protects each outgoing lighting circuit. It brings the timer or photocell, the contactors, feeder-wise protection and metering together in one weatherproof enclosure.
Timer or photocell – which should I choose?
An astronomical timer is more predictable and needs no cleaning, so it suits highways and large municipal installations. A photocell responds to actual light levels, which helps under heavy tree cover or during long overcast spells. Many panels are supplied with both, the timer as primary and the photocell as backup.
Can the panel switch part of the lighting off after midnight?
Yes. A part-night arrangement uses a second contactor group to drop alternate poles at a set hour and restore them before dawn, which typically cuts late-night consumption by around half while keeping the road usably lit.
What ratings can you manufacture?
Panels are built from small three-way units for a colony road up to multi-feeder panels for highway and township lighting, in single or three phase, with the incomer and outgoing ways sized to the connected lighting load and the cable run.
How much maintenance does it need?
Very little. A periodic check of contactor contacts, terminal tightness, door gaskets and the timer setting is usually enough. Panels supplied with remote monitoring flag trips and abnormal burning hours on their own.
